An overwhelming majority of network marketers are India-based, according to a new study.
According to a survey of 2,000 top network marketers conducted by Mint, the average annual salary of a top network marketing executive in India is around $1 million.
The survey also showed that only 15% of top network executives reported they were working in a country other than India.
The survey was conducted by India-focused consultancy firm, CPM Global.
The top networkers include companies like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Paytm, Paym, Kakao and GoDaddy.
They include top executives of large companies such as Snapdeal (now owned by Alibaba), Amazon (now valued at $6.5 billion), Facebook (now worth $52 billion) and Bajaj Bajak (formerly owned by SoftBank).
Some of the top network management companies in the country include Reliance Communications (RCC), Reliance Group, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bharti Airtel (BHEL) and Axis Bank.
The top network CEOs of India also include Infosys (INS) chairman Nandan Nilekani, Infosyd founder K. Radhakrishnan and Infosyn Chairman Rajiv Shukla.
The median salary for a top executive of a leading network company in India in the past two years was around $3 million.
The study also found that almost half of network executives in India reported having no network marketing experience.
Of the 1,000 respondents, only 9% had at least one year of network marketing training.
This is the highest rate of lack of network management training in the world.
“We need to start a new generation of leaders in network marketing, who can lead their networks and teams from scratch,” said Anupam Jain, the CEO of CPM.
“We need a new breed of leaders who are able to build networks from scratch, with no network experience.”
