India is home to over 1.5 billion people and is expected to overtake China as the biggest global market by 2021, according to a report by The National Geographic.
India has also seen a surge in internet advertising revenue and online marketing is expected by 2020 to account for 40% of all online revenue globally.
“India is becoming the fastest growing market for online marketing, and this is a great opportunity for companies to expand and create an impact,” says N.A. Singh, President of Marketing, National Geographic, who is based in New Delhi.
“The top five brands for 2017 include three of India’s top five MLM companies: the National Geographic Network, NN Network and MNS Group.”
Singh is also the Executive Director of India, which represents National Geographic and NN Networks in India.
A Singh says the country’s rise as the world’s biggest online advertising market is also being driven by the success of their network marketing efforts.
“One of the biggest challenges we face is finding the right balance between the speed and ease of access, the accessibility and the quality of the content,” he says.
“We have had to work hard to develop the right business model, but it has paid off.”
The report says NN and MN Networks have seen a 50% increase in revenue since 2011 and MNA has doubled its revenue each year since 2013.MNS Group, which operates the National Zoo and Wildlife Park, is also looking to expand its presence in India with plans to launch its first animal attractions in 2018.
The report notes that India’s internet advertising revenues have grown from $10.6 billion in 2011 to $31.7 billion in 2020.
Singh says the growth of internet advertising is important for the future of India and the growth in internet ad revenues will help companies to build more online marketing efforts.
“India’s internet ad revenue will reach $2 trillion by 2020.
This is a huge opportunity for online advertising companies in India to expand their operations and grow their businesses,” Singh says.
